Liaqat Ali Khan: The First Prime Minister of Pakistan

Liaqat Ali Khan (1895–1951) was a prominent politician and the first Prime Minister of Pakistan. He played a vital role in the creation of Pakistan and in laying the foundations of its government and administration. He is remembered as a dedicated leader who worked for the welfare and progress of the nation.


Liaqat Ali Khan was born on October 1, 1895, in Karnal, India. He received his early education in India and later studied law. He was an active member of the All India Muslim League and worked closely with Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, to achieve the goal of a separate homeland for Muslims.

After the independence of Pakistan in 1947, Liaqat Ali Khan became the first Prime Minister of the new country. He faced many challenges, including the migration crisis, economic difficulties, and establishing a functioning government. Despite these difficulties, he worked tirelessly to strengthen Pakistan’s political and administrative institutions.

Liaqat Ali Khan is known for his efforts in shaping Pakistan’s foreign policy and maintaining friendly relations with other countries. He introduced important reforms in administration and worked for the social and economic development of the people.

Tragically, Liaqat Ali Khan was assassinated on October 16, 1951, during a public gathering in Rawalpindi. His death was a great loss to the nation. Today, he is remembered as a patriotic leader, a wise statesman, and a devoted servant of Pakistan.
